India Team Squad For ICC T20 World Cup 2022

 

T20 World Cup 2022 will be an astonishing cricket tournament that will take place towards the end of this year. All the top cricket nations will compete with each other during the tournament. Australia is the host and venue of the tournament. A total of 16 teams will compete in T20 World Cup 2022.

 

India is part of group 2 and will face Pakistan in their opening game on October 23. Rohit Sharma, who is the current skipper across formats, will lead India in the ICC tournament. Openers: Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul

 

With KL Rahul back in action, he looks set to partner Rohit Sharma at the top of the order. Rahul last played for India way back in February and will make his return for the team through the upcoming tour of Zimbabwe. He and Rohit Sharma are likely to be the only specialist openers in the team.

 

In recent times, the team-management have tried out the likes of Rishabh Pant, Suryakumar Yadav and Deepak Hooda as openers. So in case of an emergency, the aforementioned players could be promoted to the top.

 

 

Middle-order: Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Deepak Hooda, Rishabh Pant (wk), Dinesh Karthik

 

The likes of Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav will lead India’s middle-order. Apart from them, Deepak Hooda, Rishabh Pant and Dinesh Karthik are also looking set to find a place in the middle-order. Kohli is looking set to bat at number three and will be followed by Suryakumar. It will be interesting to see the choices that the team-management will make for the remaining middle-order spots.

 

Allrounders: Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja

 

Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja will be India’s first two choices for the allrounders’ spots in the team. Both the players are two of the best T20 players in the world at the moment and India’s fate in the tournament will depend a lot on how they perform.

 

Bowlers: Ravichandran Ashwin, Yuzvendra Chahal, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, Mohammed Shami

 

With the conditions in Australia not too spin-friendly, the Indian team-management is unlikely to pick more than two spinners. Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal are the likely options for India’s spin department. The likes of Jadeja and Hooda can also contribute with their spin bowling.

 

Apart from two spinners, as many as four pacers are likely to be named in the squad. Jasprit Bumrah is set to lead the attack and is likely to have the company of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Arshdeep Singh as well as Mohammed Shami. Shami has not played a T20I since last year’s T20 World Cup but recent reports have suggested that he is still in reckoning for a place in the team.
