Ramiz, who has repeatedly criticised the Indian cricket board, issued a warning that if Pakistan’s hosting rights for the Asia Cup are taken away from them because India will not visit the nation, the Babar Azam-led team may completely withdraw from the competition.

Ramiz Raja , the chairman of the PCB, has once more attacked the BCCI for Jay Shah’s remark regarding the Asia Cup 2023, which is planned to be held in Pakistan. Ramiz, who has repeatedly criticised the Indian cricket board, issued a warning that if Pakistan’s hosting rights for the Asia Cup are taken away from them because India will not visit the nation, the Babar Azam-led team may completely withdraw from the competition.

Ramiz remarked on the sidelines of the ongoing Pakistan-England Test in Rawalpindi that it is not as if the PCB lacks hosting rights and is asking to host it.

He claimed that Pakistan had gained the rights legitimately. They won’t come if India doesn’t. The Men in Green may withdraw if Pakistan is denied the right to host the Asia Cup.

The Asia Cup will be held at a neutral location, Shah, who is also the president of the Asian Cricket Council, revealed in October, shortly after the BCCI’s annual general meeting. The Indian team won’t be travelling to Pakistan for the competition.

In retaliation, the PCB issued a statement threatening to abstain from the ODI World Cup , which will be held in India in 2023. In a recent interview, Ramiz also echoed such words.

India’s most recent visit to Pakistan was in 2008, also for the Asia Cup. In contrast, Pakistan had visited India in 2016 for the T20 World Cup. Since 2012, there haven’t been any bilateral series between them, but they have faced off in ICC competitions and the Asia Cup.

Ramiz claimed that the PCB has demonstrated its ability to welcome top teams. He is aware of bilateral cricket difficulties, but the Asia Cup is a multi-nation competition that is almost as significant for the Asian region as the World Cup.

He questions why the ICC initially granted it to Pakistan before making all of those claims about India not going there. He acknowledges that India won’t attend because their government won’t let them, but he believes it is wrong to deny the host nation the Asia Cup on that ground.

Ramiz responded, “common sense,” when asked what it would take to persuade the Indian team to visit Pakistan on the BBC’s Test Match Special.
