He said that about 51 lakh families of the state will not have to pay electricity bill from September 1. CM Bhagwant Mann after dedicating 66 kilo volt Butari-Beas line to the people said that the Aam Aadmi Government of the state has provided free 600 units of electricity to every section in every bill.

he also told that with this initiative of the government, 51 lakh households out of 74 lakh in Punjab will get zero electricity bill from September 1. Two Months Billing Cycle

In a statement, CM Mann said that for the first time the farmers of the state have got regular, without any cut and surplus power. On the 66 KV line, Bhagwant Mann said that this important line, which regularly lights 70 villages of the border districts, is burning for the last one decade.
Will get rid of overloading problem
Punjab State Chief Mann said that after assuming the post of CM, he had asked officials to ensure that the project is completed at the earliest. A total of 4.40 crores has been spent on this project. This will benefit more than 2 lakh customers, after which they will not have to worry about power cuts or overloading. A total electricity subsidy bill of Rs 15,845 crore has been proposed in the state budget.
On June 27, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema, while presenting the budget, had said that providing 300 units of free electricity would cost the exchequer an additional burden of Rs 1,800 crore. Punjab provides subsidized power to different categories, out of which the subsidy bill due to free electricity to the agriculture sector alone is about Rs 7,000 crore.
